Warning Signs That a Criminal Attack is Imminent

One of my readers asked me if I would address this topic so I’ll take a run at it as requested.  In order to be better prepared to protect yourself; be aware of the warning signs that usually signal that an attack by a criminal is imminent.

• When someone invades your personal space, by standing too close, especially when there aren’t many people around.  What they are doing is closing the distance between you and themselves for a potential attack.
• Asking you a question like do you have the time or do you have change for a dollar.  What they are doing is evaluating your situational awareness and sizing you up as a potential target.
• If someone is walking towards you and their hands are hidden; especially behind their backs, your radar should be up telling you that something is wrong.
• Coordinated motion; if you cross the street and they cross the street, if you stop walking and they stop walking; you are being positioned for an attack.
• Glances are another tell-tale sign.  If someone is constantly glancing around to see if they are being watched it is a good indication that they are up to no good.  What they are doing is making sure there are no potential witnesses before they attack. 
• If someone directly in front of you starts shifting their weight look out for an attack.  Weight shifting is generally done so that they can deliver a maximum knockout punch before assaulting or robbing you.
• Herding occurs when a criminal tries to manuever or lure you to an isolated place.  If you feel like you are being steered away from people to a dark or deserted area; do not go, period.
• Never flash money or expensive jewelry in public.  You never know who might be watching and decide to make you a target.
• Always be situationally aware.

Keeping Yourself Safe

The following are ten important things to know when it comes to keeping yourself safe.  

1. Be situationally aware of who and what is around you.
2. Pay attention to your gut instincts.  If something feels wrong or unsafe than it probably is wrong or unsafe.
3. Be careful whom you trust.  Not everyone or everything is always as it appears to be.
4. Keep your cell phone fully charged and with you.
5. Be proficient with your self defense firearms.  They can save your life someday.
6. Do not have a victim’s mentality or an entitlement mentality.  Instead be confident and positive about yourself and your abilities.
7. Be prepared for the most likely scenarios which you might face and plan accordingly.
8. Do not walk or drive in dangerous areas alone or at night.  
9. Do not let strangers latch onto you.
10. Develop a tactical, self defense mindset.  You are your own first line of self defense.

Stay Alert; It Just Might Save Your Life

Violent criminals seek out those who appear weak, defenseless, and who are not paying attention to what is going on around them.  In order to avoid violent attacks or to survive them if you are involved in one, the following things should be strongly considered.

• Walk with confidence and project confidence.  Give the impression that you would be a hard target.
• Avoid dangerous places and dangerous neighborhoods.
• Be situationally aware of what is going on around you.
• Where legal, carry a defensive weapon and be proficient in its use.
• Keep your cell phone fully charged and available.
• Don’t take needless risks such as jogging alone through the woods or walking through alleys as a shortcut to your destination.
• Use your environment as a tool such as using store windows to see if you are being followed.  If you suspect danger get out of there and seek assistance immediately.
• Don’t let politeness make you a target.  If someone encroaches on your territory or you get a bad vibe tell them to get back or back off.
• Take responsibility for your own safety.
• If you are attacked fight to win.  Know the strike points on the human body that will quickly incapacitate an attacker.

10 Ways To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse

So you’ve looked outside and zombies are everywhere.  Here are ten ways to survive the zombie apocalypse if you ever find yourself in that scenario.

1. Stay quiet.  Zombies are attracted to noise.  Even if you want to scream, or shout or yell, don’t do it.
2. Do not travel alone or at night especially if you are on foot.
3. Have a safe, secure, well fortified location to live.
4. Have plenty of guns, ammo, clubs, knives, tomahawks and other sharp weapons just in case you have to dispatch a zombie or two from time to time.  Remember it takes damage to the head and brain to kill them.  
5. Have food, water, medical supplies and other essential survival gear stocked up.
6. Stay in shape physically, mentally and emotionally.
7. Be careful whom you trust.  People aren’t always what they appear to be.
8. Have a primary, secondary and tertiary survival plan.
9. Observe proper light and noise discipline.
10. It will be easier to survive if you are with a group of people that you trust; and can be relied upon when the SHTF.
