For me there is simply no other choice for my favorite battle rifle.  It’s the FAL L1A1 chambered in .308 with a 20 round detachable magazine.  When it comes to covering long distances between 800 to  1000 yards depending on conditions; the .308 cartridge from a properly maintained L1A1 is the way to go.

Does that rifle only have iron sights? Or is there a way to add other optics that just isn’t visible in the picture?

The top dust cover slides off and can be replaced with a dust cover that has a built in top rail. That’s how I have mine currently set up with a 3-9×40 scope solidly mounted to the top.

  2. I miss that rifle, was a great piece of kit, one that should not have been fazed out the way it was!
CDN Military issued me one similar
    ours was the FNC1A1 7.62 (.308) .. sigh..
