Whether it’s a survival scenario, a post apocalyptic situation, a zombie apocalypse, or for other defensive purposes it is always good to have a plan for what your primary, secondary, and tertiary weapons platforms will be.  When it comes to primary weapons mission dictates weapons choice.  So for primary weapons planning; the following options are worth considering.

  • Your primary handgun should either be a semi automatic in 9mm, .40S&W or .45 ACP.  If you prefer carrying a revolver it should be either a 357 magnum or if you can handle the recoil a 44 magnum.
  • Your primary shotgun should be a 12 gauge pump action shotgun using 00 buckshot.
  • Your primary carbine should be an AR15 or an AK47.  If you prefer a long range rifle instead then make sure it is chambered in a round that will reach out to approximately 1000 yards such as the 30-06, .308, 7mm Rem Mag, 7.62x54r, etc.

Planning in advance is the key to being prepared.  Weapons are a vital part of any plan as all the survival items you have will mean nothing; if you don’t have the means to defend them against looters, thugs and all manner of miscreants.

You can see all 5 of my post apocalyptic fiction books, 2 of my zombie fiction books and 1 of my horror fiction books on the left side of my blog page.  Go ahead and purchase one or more over at Amazon.com. They are really quite interesting and entertaining to read if I do say so myself.
