When it comes to home defense and protecting your home and your family from intruders; the following are 10 defensive items every home should have.

  • Large, lovable, loyal dog that can alert you to the presence of strangers.
  • Secure window, garage and door locks.
  • Door jam bars.
  • Reliable weapon along with sufficient and proper training for self defense applications.
  • Common Sense
  • Locks on all outbuildings such as sheds.
  • Secure, lockable fence around your property.
  • Fully charged cell phone.
  • Some form of alarm system home made or otherwise.
  • Family plan which all members of the family have reviewed; containing what to do in the event of a break in.

You can see all 5 of my post apocalyptic fiction books, 2 of my zombie fiction books and 1 of my horror fiction books on the left side of my blog page.  Go ahead and see one or more over at Amazon.com by clicking on the book cover images.  If they seem like interesting reading feel free to purchase . They really are quite entertaining to read.

I’ll share my home security list:

    1. Mid-sized, loyal, loving dog that is slightly neurotic from early experiences in prior abusive home and will rip the throat out of anyone that isn’t part of her ‘new family’ – which is also why I no longer host dinner parties – – 🙂

    2. Thorny, sticky, spiny, poinsonous plants strategically placed at perimeter fence lines, and under windows –

    3. Panic room aka known as 100 year old root cellar with stairs so treacherous the ‘bad guys’ will fall and break their neck if they choose to come down them….

LOL – Have a good week!

Great list. Loving dogs are better than dinner parties any day of the week 🙂 Your panic room sounds first rate. I’d like to hear more about it.

LOL. Shakey concrete block steps descending to dug by hand root cellar with half-high block walls all the rest dirt. Entrance only available once past the dog and heaving heavy floor door out and up. LOL. Aka food storage area. 🙂

        Sounds good. Stay safe.
