What has happened to my America.  We have gone from a nation of self reliance to a nation of entitlement dependents.  Now I know not everyone is like this; but for those of you with an entitlement mentality, have some self respect and try achieving the following.

  • Get a good education.  It can be done; just apply yourself.
  • Get a good job.  Something you can be proud of.  It may take time to find one that satisfies you; as well as pays well, but keep looking until you find one that’s right for you.
  • Stop expecting other people to foot the bill for you.  A lifetime dependency on welfare should make you feel ashamed.  No self respecting person should feel good about themselves if they are on an entitlement program for their entire life.
  • Got a dream; then see it through.  Don’t give up on it just because you hit a roadblock or two.  Keep pushing forward until you achieve what you want.
  • There is a right and a wrong regardless of what the lamestream media tells you.  Try to have a good moral code and do the right thing even if no one is there watching.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and a confident manner as often as possible; and try to genuinely enjoy what life has to offer.
  • Lying, cheating and stealing is no way to go through life.
  • If you have strong convictions about something than stand your ground.
  • Believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities to succeed.

Well I learned a valuable lesson the hard way today.  My dog decided to chew up a $600.00 piece of survival gear to the point where it is unusable in its present state.  I’ll call the manufacturer on Monday and see if they can repair this unnamed piece of survival gear and how much they will charge and how long it will take.  I still  love my dog but I will have to reconsider where I keep some of my preparedness items.  Lesson learned the hard way.

Citizen’s of America!  And those of you whom this post applies to already know who you are.  You’ve got to toughen up.  You need to stop being so offended by every little thing that someone says.  We have free speech in this country and the political correctness crowd needs to stop trying to restrict it.  I’m a firm believer in the mantra of if you have something to say then just say it.  That is and should continue to be the American way; unencumbered by the touchy, whiney, sissy, political correctness movement.

Everyone at some point in their lives has been called a deragotory name or insulted in some way.  Get over it!  That is no excuse for not achieving whatever it is you want to achieve or for blaming others for your failures.  Toughen up, fix whatever it is in your life that is holding you back and get on with living.  You are responsible for what you decide your life is going to be, so stop blaming everyone else because your feelings were hurt.

Seleena, my faithful Alaskan malamute of 13 years crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday.  I know that someday in the future I will see her in heaven again.  The following by an unknown author is dedicated to her.  I love you Seleena and will miss you.  I will remember you with love every day.

Sometimes sheer pleasure and enjoyment comes out of re-discovering simplicity.  For more years then I care to remember my handguns and everything related to them has been a mantra of semi automatic, semi automatic and semi automatic.  My son and I were in a gun shop not long ago and we came across a used 357 Magnum Taurus Model 66 revolver which I promptly purchased.  Imagine my surprise at having so much fun using a revolver for target shooting.  In fact I’ve added it to my rotation for carry gun purposes.  Just goes to show sometimes simplicity in firearms still makes perfect sense.  Now here’s to hoping I get that Ruger GP 100 from Santa this year 🙂

Yes, I’ve finally come to realize, the hard way, that as I am getting older my mind still wants to do things that my body isn’t willing to follow.  Case in point was while doing some weight training I tore a muscle pretty badly in my right arm causing pain to radiate up and down my right arm. The pain extends from the thumb on my right hand all the way up to my neck.  Yes I know in a few weeks I’ll be fine; but it made me realize that carrying a bug out bag or handling a firearm have now been made increasingly more difficult, and painful, at least for a few weeks.  Lesson learned here is when it comes to survival and preparedness, it is essential to not push your body beyond what it is realistically capable of doing, regardless of how young you feel inside.

Some of you have perhaps noticed I have not posted in the last six days; and that was due to battling a fever, body aches, chills, and your basic underlying cold symptoms.  It gave me a chance to ponder a few things on the road to recovery.  Generally I am a very healthy person and I am grateful and appreciative for that; but being sick for these past six days has made me once again realize just how important your health really is.

If I had needed to defend my home or protect my family while dealing with fever, chills, and bodyaches; it is doubtful whether I would have been able to do so effectively.  Let’s face it; nothing puts you out of commission faster than sickness or overall poor health.  With that said I have made a renewed commitment to eating better, taking better care of myself, maintaining a more relaxed and peaceful mindset, being more appreciative of things, being less critical and less judgemental of others, and praying to God each and every day.  After all I am certainly not getting any younger but hopefully I am getting a little wiser.

If looters and thugs strike, or if zombies are on the horizon, or if you have to deal with societal collapse or any other disasters that come to mind; if you don’t have your health then you are at a significant disadvantage.  So please, do whatever you can to stay as healthy as possible.  I wish all of you the very best and I hope that wherever you are; you find yourself safe, secure, happy and healthy.
