So you’ve looked outside and zombies are everywhere.  Here are ten ways to survive the zombie apocalypse if you ever find yourself in that scenario.

  1. Stay quiet.  Zombies are attracted to noise.  Even if you want to scream, or shout or yell, don’t do it.
  2. Do not travel alone or at night especially if you are on foot.
  3. Have a safe, secure, well fortified location to live.
  4. Have plenty of guns, ammo, clubs, knives, tomahawks and other sharp weapons just in case you have to dispatch a zombie or two from time to time.  Remember it takes damage to the head and brain to kill them.
  5. Have food, water, medical supplies and other essential survival gear stocked up.
  6. Stay in shape physically, mentally and emotionally.
  7. Be careful whom you trust.  People aren’t always what they appear to be.
  8. Have a primary, secondary and tertiary survival plan.
  9. Observe proper light and noise discipline.
  10. It will be easier to survive if you are with a group of people that you trust; and can be relied upon when the SHTF.

Here’s what I don’t understand about the zombie apocalypse.  No matter how many days, weeks or months go by; whenever you see zombies on TV or in the movies, the lawns always look maticulously cared for or are freshly mowed.  Who are these mysterious bands of survivors who avoid the zombie packs every day yet still find time to mow all the lawns in the neighborhood.  What grit and determination they have to keep their neighborhoods looking prim and proper while the flesh eating undead are everywhere trying to devour them.  I give thanks to these humble keepers of the lawns during the time of the zombie apocalypse 🙂

So the zombies have finally arrived.  Do you have what it takes to survive the ultimate zombie apocalypse? Well we shall see.  The following methodologies are the best ways to survive in the event you happen to see any of these zombies staggering around your neighborhood.

  • Weapons, weapons, weapons, weapons, weapons.  Rifles, shotguns, handguns, plenty of ammo and mags as needed, sharp knives, battle axes and wrecking bars all will be required.
  • Train often with your weapons so you can wield them effectively against these re-animated corpses.
  • Make your home defensible; have plenty of plywood and nails for boarding up windows and reinforcing entry ways, barbed wire fencing, tanglefoot wire and steel reinforced fencing will also be effective deterrents.
  • Use common sense.  Stay hidden when needed, patrol your perimeter as needed, and work in teams whenever possible.
  • Get in shape.  Physical fitness is key to surviving a zombie apocalypse.  You must be able to walk long distances if needed and run quickly when the situation warrants regardless of age.  If you are out of shape or very overweight, diet and exercise everyday immediately.
  • Look, listen, and remain vigilant.
  • Avoid urban areas.  Suburbs and rural areas are much better.  If you live in the city move now to a nice area with plenty of wide open spaces.
  • Own the largest SUV possible, keep your gas tank and spare gas cans full, and make sure your SUV can run down hordes of the undead without stalling; by reinforcing the front and rear bumpers.

Its unintended consequence is the reanimation of the recently deceased. As the zombie infection spreads; Tim is forced to leave his home and fend off not only deadly zombie attacks, but also the evils that man instigates against man. The following is Tim’s written record of events as he tries to stay alive and maintain his humanity; in a world decimated by the flesh eating zombie hordes. This is Book 1 in the Biohazard Redacted series.

When the zombie apocalypse finally arrives there are eleven things, in my opinion, you should never do under any circumstances.

  • Panic is absolutely the worst thing you can do.  When you panic you do not think clearly and you will most likely make life ending mistakes.
  • Never split up if you are in a small group.  Defensive capabilities are increased when you stick together.  Small groups who stay together have a better chance of survival.
  • Don’t stand in front of a window or an open door.  Do I really have to explain why when zombies are everywhere looking for their next meal.
  • Don’t be the jerk in the group.  If you are; the rest of the group will more than likely toss you to the zombies, the first chance they get.
  • Don’t fall in love with a woman who is still concerned with fashion, or refuses to go anywhere unless she is wearing high heels, once the zombie apocalypse occurs.  Her neediness and fascination with herself will do nothing to increase your own chances for survival.
  • Never go to a hospital, police station, school, FEMA relocation center, or large public arena. It stands to reason other people have already tried; and this has attracted zombies, which have likely torn these places apart and feasted on those they have found there.
  • Never trust a pacifist to watch your back.  If they are that afraid of self defense or of using a weapon; then find someone else with some courage.
  • Never trust a looter.  You’d have to be insane to want someone on your team whose only thought is how many big screen TV’s they can steal.  They will be absolutely useless and are not to be trusted.
  • Don’t waste your time trying to reason with a zombie.  It is nothing more than an exercise in utter futility.
  • Don’t trust the know it all.  They will be the first ones to disappoint you when the sh*t hits the fan.
  • Never think that you have enough weapons and ammo; you don’t.
