Mark the dates for Gridex II which are November 13, 14, 2013.  This is when the cyberattack, physical attack simulation drills are supposed to occur representing an electrical grid shutdown of the United States, Mexico and Canada. Thousands of utility workers, FBI agents, anti-terrorism experts, government agencies, and 150 private businesses will be participating in the drills.  It is considered crisis management practice in case the grid ever goes down for real and will focus on the governments reaction to dealing with no power, supply chain collapses, stoppage of food and fuel distribution, communications blackouts, etc.  Mark your calenders just in case the power in your area goes down as part of the drill.

So The SHTF and an ultimate survival scenario is thrust upon you.  When all is said and done you need to make sure that whatever rifle you consider your primary survival rifle is up to the task.  So ask yourself the following questions to see if your survival rifle is the best choice for your all around needs.

  • Is the rifle accurate enough?
  • Is ammo plentiful and do you have a method to carry all that additional ammo?
  • Are spare parts available?
  • Do you have enough reliable mags and a method to carry the mags?
  • Is the rifle durable enough?
  • Do any of the modifications make it too fragile for heavy duty use?
  • Is the rifle easily transportable?
  • Can you use a carry strap with the rifle?  They can get heavy when carrying for extended periods of time without one.
  • Is the rifle usable at night and in extreme weather conditions?
