While it is important to be prepared for things that might occur, it is equally important to not obsess over these things.  Keep things in perspective; if you can live your life prepared but also happy, healthy, and with peace of mind then you are way ahead of most folks.

Your health is of the utmost importance.  Without good health, everything else is secondary.  Work on doing all you can to be healthy, happy, develop peace of mind, and have a positive outlook on life.  Everything else will then fall into place and you will be better prepared to handle a man-made or natural disaster if an when it happens.

You can take a look at some of my apocalyptic, zombie, or horror fiction books on the left side of my blog page by clicking on the book cover images.  If they interest you then I hope you will consider purchasing a copy

I thought I would try a free e-book giveaway.  The rules are simple.  Leave a positive review for any one of my 5 books over at Amazon.com and you are automatically entered in my free e-book giveaway.  The winner will receive any one of my currently published post apocalyptic/survival books of their choice which can be seen on the left side of my blog page; or they can hold out until my first zombie book (currently untitled) is released.  So leave a positive comment over at amazon.com and be entered into my free e-book giveaway.  I will let the contest run until May 24, 2013 and the winner will be notified on my blog at that time.  That person may then select one of my e-books and I will send it to them absolutely free.   Hurry up and enter and spread the word 🙂

Writers, what are you working on these days?  Here’s your chance to share what your past, present and future writing projects are.  Don’t be shy; let us know what you’ve been up to.  I’m always interested in giving other writers a chance to share their projects with people who follow my blog.

As for myself I have five fiction books in the post apocalyptic survival genre published; and available at Amazon.com.  Titles are and you will see a pattern here 🙂

  • American Rebellion Book 1 of the Revolution
  • American Rebellion Book 2 of the Revolution
  • American Rebellion Book 3 of the Revolution
  • American Rebellion Book 4 of the Revolution
  • American Rebellion Book 5 of the Revolution

My current writing project is a new series, not yet titled, which will deal with zombies.  I’ll be alternating between writing my new zombie series and then going back to continue on with the post apocalyptic American Rebellion series.  Okay writers; what are you working on?

The better prepared you are and the more self reliant you become; the better your chances are for survival.  Avoid dangerous areas and especially avoid areas that are subject to martial law.  Stay informed with reliable, factual information and do not draw uneccessary attention to yourself or your family.  Never take someone’s word at face value if it involves your life, liberty and safety without carefully scrutinizing the information first.

Your survival is more important than obeying dictates especially if those dictates are counter-productive to your survival chances.  Be adaptable; if your survival plan is not working to your satisfaction then switch plans.   Develop peace of mind as frustration leads to bad decision making.   Anything that you do should be designed to have a positive result or a positive change in your life.  Avoid taking actions that will have a negative consequence when it comes to your safety and survival.

You can get a free preview of my first five post apocalyptic fiction survival books by clicking on the book cover images to the left of this blog post, on my blog page, which will take you to the Amazon.com website. Then you can click on the look inside option which will give you a free preview.  If my survival fiction books interest you; then consider purchasing them.  Book titles include American Rebellion Book 1 of the Revolution, American Rebellion Book 2 of the Revolution, American Rebellion Book 3 of the Revolution, American Rebellion Book 4 of the Revolution and American Rebellion Book 5 of the Revolution.

Besides having the proper gear to get you through any type of survival crisis, the following mental skills are critically important to also have.

  • Situational Awareness since you must be aware of what is going on around you at all times to increase your survival chances.
  • Reasoning since you will need to analyze and reason through different courses of proposed actions.
  • Adaptability since no plan is foolproof and you need to be able to adapt and change as different situations arise.
  • Confidence since you must believe in yourself and your abilities in order to make effective and correct decisions.
  • Positive Thinking since you must believe that the outcome of your endeavor will be successful in order to make it so.
  • Peace of Mind since worry, fear and anxiety are the enemies of survival.
  • Perseverance as you may have to endure and overcome some hardships along the way.

If you have these mental skills then fantastic.  If you don’t then work on obtaining them.  Like any skill you can change your mental focus and outlook through practice and having the desire to want to change. Remember you are what you think you are.
