Citizen’s of America!  And those of you whom this post applies to already know who you are.  You’ve got to toughen up.  You need to stop being so offended by every little thing that someone says.  We have free speech in this country and the political correctness crowd needs to stop trying to restrict it.  I’m a firm believer in the mantra of if you have something to say then just say it.  That is and should continue to be the American way; unencumbered by the touchy, whiney, sissy, political correctness movement.

Everyone at some point in their lives has been called a deragotory name or insulted in some way.  Get over it!  That is no excuse for not achieving whatever it is you want to achieve or for blaming others for your failures.  Toughen up, fix whatever it is in your life that is holding you back and get on with living.  You are responsible for what you decide your life is going to be, so stop blaming everyone else because your feelings were hurt.

In survival situations there are key personality traits which can improve your overall chances for staying alive.  These traits are as follows.

  • Awareness – The ability to be aware of your surroundings at all times (situational awareness), including noticing danger signs, and being intuitive enough to sense impending danger; as well as interpreting another persons body language, determining what various noises are and what they mean.
  • Adaptability – The ability to change your plans as needed and to not fall apart when things don’t go your way.  You have to be able to roll with the changes and not get derailed if plans or situations change.
  • Courage – The ability to have a firm committment to survival and to do what is necessary in the face of danger to remain alive.  Courage allows you to master your fears and proceed ahead with the tasks at hand.
  • Patience – The ability to wait for the right moment before you take action.  Timing is everything.
  • Decisiveness – The ability to make correct decisions based on available facts.  Sitting around waiting for something to happen can often be detrimental to your survival chances.
  • Self Confidence – The ability to utilize your skills and abilities in a confident, positive manner regardless of the circumstances.
  • Mental Toughness – The ability to stay alert, and focused and to know that no matter what happens you will be victorious in any situation that arises.

I’m going to diverge from my usual survival and preparedness related posts, Conservative political opinions and weapons related items just for this specific post so I can mention some important things I feel everyone should strive to achieve in life.  I’ve told this over and over to my children when they were growing up; and now that they are both young adults, and college students; I’d like to pass it along to you.

  1. Attend college and graduate with an employable degree.  It is never too late to go to school.  A degree is not enough; it must be an employable degree.
  2. Enjoy what you do for work.  If you don’t then find another line of work.
  3. Be proud of your country and proud to be an American.
  4. Find someone who makes you happy and when you do stick with that person.
  5. It’s better to have money and be happy then to not have money and be happy or unhappy.
  6. Life is too short to be miserable.
  7. If you don’t like something about your lifestyle or your personality, etc., then work on changing it.  It can be done.
  8. Have a hobby you enjoy doing and do it.
  9. Learn the art of relaxation.
  10. Have an attitude of gratitude.
  11. Believe in yourself and your abilities.
  12. Be confident always.
  13. Positive thinking gets you further than negative thinking.
  14. Agree with everything I say; oh alright, agree with everything I say most of the time 🙂

Whenever you are faced with a survival situation or any situation for that matter; it is important not to bog yourself down with negative thoughts and doubts.  Here are some key principles to remember.

  • Whenever possible surround yourself with positive, like minded people.
  • There are always selfish individuals who might resent you or what you’ve accomplished; don’t let their negativity or spiteful commentary get to you.  Brush it off without a second thought.  Consider them to be worthless debris and move on.
  • Positive thinking leads to positive results.  Negative thinking leads to negative results.
  • Believe in yourself and your abilities.
  • If something doesn’t go your way; focus your energy and try again.
  • You can’t please everyone so stop trying.  If you are happy with your life or what you’ve attempted and achieved then you are on the right track.
  • Positive thinking, confidence, self control and good self esteem will take you far in life.
  • Ignore those who say it can’t be done.  If it’s important to you then go out and do it.
