While it is important to be prepared for things that might occur, it is equally important to not obsess over these things.  Keep things in perspective; if you can live your life prepared but also happy, healthy, and with peace of mind then you are way ahead of most folks.

Your health is of the utmost importance.  Without good health, everything else is secondary.  Work on doing all you can to be healthy, happy, develop peace of mind, and have a positive outlook on life.  Everything else will then fall into place and you will be better prepared to handle a man-made or natural disaster if an when it happens.

Whenever you are faced with a survival situation or any situation for that matter; it is important not to bog yourself down with negative thoughts and doubts.  Here are some key principles to remember.

  • Whenever possible surround yourself with positive, like minded people.
  • There are always selfish individuals who might resent you or what you’ve accomplished; don’t let their negativity or spiteful commentary get to you.  Brush it off without a second thought.  Consider them to be worthless debris and move on.
  • Positive thinking leads to positive results.  Negative thinking leads to negative results.
  • Believe in yourself and your abilities.
  • If something doesn’t go your way; focus your energy and try again.
  • You can’t please everyone so stop trying.  If you are happy with your life or what you’ve attempted and achieved then you are on the right track.
  • Positive thinking, confidence, self control and good self esteem will take you far in life.
  • Ignore those who say it can’t be done.  If it’s important to you then go out and do it.

For those of you who are wondering what the secret of a happy life is; the following illustrates it perfectly.

In any disaster or survival scenario; being mentally prepared will be of paramount importance.  There is a great deal in life that a person can prepare for if they have the skills, knowledge, fortitude, gear, willpower, and the right attitude; and can utilize all of these things when they are needed.

A properly prepared mind is your greatest asset when it comes to dealing with natural and man-made disasters.  Being able to think your course of action through; without making rash or hasty decisions, will keep you from stumbling into situations which will increase your chances of encountering unintended dangerous consequences.

Having a prepared mind allows one to live with confidence and not in fear.  Being prepared also provides peace of mind which is absolutely essential to a persons overall quality of life.  Remember that bad times can bring out the worst in some people so it is important to be able to defend yourself and your loved ones if a short or long term disaster occurs.  Positive thinking leads to positive results. Negative thinking leads to negative results.  It’s your choice; so think positive and be prepared.

The sky is falling is a mentality I attribute to people who dwell on the worst possible scenarios in all facets of their lives.  As a prepper; it is wise to plan for both natural and manmade disasters; but one should never dwell on them needlessly.  It is good to be prepared; but it is also good to have a positive outlook and enjoy life to the fullest.

For the most part; most of us probably live in a relatively safe and stable world.  Prepping becomes essential for those times when the world due to political, social, or economic reasons becomes not so safe and not so stable.  You need to remember that anything can happen to anyone at any time and that is what makes prepping such an important skill to master.

So live life to the fullest but prepare accordingly.  You never know when war, famine, zombies, pandemics, floods, earthquakes, snow storms, tornados, hurricanes, winter storms, wildfires, drought, lightning, landslides, tsunamis, sinkholes, avalanches, asteroid strikes, civil unrest, martial law or any other scenarios which could have negative consequences may occur.  Being prepared gives you your best chance of success when it comes to survival and coming out of a disaster scenario alive.

Danger quite possibly can lurk around every corner and in order to survive when the odds seem against you; you must be real world tough.  What I’m saying is when obstacles get in your way do not let them stop you from achieving your objective.  This applies as much to everyday life as it does to any survival situation you might encounter.  Remember the following.

  • Stay vigilant and alert at all times.
  • Be confident and positive in your plans and actions.
  • Create your own opportunities.
  • Ignore people who belittle you or try and crush your dreams.
  • Stay focused on your objective and never quit.
  • You can achieve your goals if you have a plan and you tell yourself that you will succeed.
  • Success depends on one major variable; whether you believe enough in yourself to make the changes you need to happen, actually happen.
  • Do not rely on others for your own happiness.
  • Believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities.

In life, school, work, relationships or disaster survival your mental outlook can make all the difference between success and failure.  Remember that the next time a tough situation arises.  Being real world tough is much easier than it looks if you apply yourself accordingly.

There you have it; that’s all it takes, refuse to be a victim.  Whether in your personal or professional life all you need to do is have the mindset that you will not be a victim.  Once that mindset is developed, everything else becomes easy.  People with a victims mentality attract predators and manipulators, people with a survival and confident mentality keep predators and manipulators at bay.

Once you have decided to not be a victim, then doors of opportunity open.  Your confidence increases, your interests broaden and you will develop a clarity of purpose.  Keep moving forward, train vigilantly in self defense techniques and in the proper use of firearms and practice, practice, then practice some more.

Remember each person is individually responsible for their own safety and security.  Don’t delegate that responsibility to someone else.  Make sure you have the skill and the will to defend yourself properly if and when the situation arises. Criminals look for easy targets of opportunity so make yourself a hard target.  Refuse to be a victim!

I’m going to diverge from my usual survival and preparedness related posts, Conservative political opinions and weapons related items just for this specific post so I can mention some important things I feel everyone should strive to achieve in life.  I’ve told this over and over to my children when they were growing up; and now that they are both young adults, and college students; I’d like to pass it along to you.

  1. Attend college and graduate with an employable degree.  It is never too late to go to school.  A degree is not enough; it must be an employable degree.
  2. Enjoy what you do for work.  If you don’t then find another line of work.
  3. Be proud of your country and proud to be an American.
  4. Find someone who makes you happy and when you do stick with that person.
  5. It’s better to have money and be happy then to not have money and be happy or unhappy.
  6. Life is too short to be miserable.
  7. If you don’t like something about your lifestyle or your personality, etc., then work on changing it.  It can be done.
  8. Have a hobby you enjoy doing and do it.
  9. Learn the art of relaxation.
  10. Have an attitude of gratitude.
  11. Believe in yourself and your abilities.
  12. Be confident always.
  13. Positive thinking gets you further than negative thinking.
  14. Agree with everything I say; oh alright, agree with everything I say most of the time 🙂
